Spring has come to the Yellow House. The snow is melted - even the extra bit that came on Thursday & Friday morning last week. The yard is starting to look greener. I worked outside in the garden yesterday & pulled out cement blocks and bricks and boards that were lying about. I even pulled some weeds and hacked the raspberry cane to the ground. I didn't realize that I needed to leave last years cane, which is the raspberry producer! So there will not be any raspberries this year, but next year there will be fewer weeds! It is a process.
The current yard plan for 2008 is a major de-weeding. Yard maintenance has been minimal in the past few years judging by the amount of weeds in the lawn and the grass in the front flower beds. So administering "weed & feed" on all areas of lawn is a must, as is "moss killer." Yup, in dry, arid eastern WA I have moss in my lawn.
In the back garden area: I'm working on clearing the "decorative" rocks, stones, bricks, blocks, etc., removing house & garden debris that was dumped by the back shed, gathering up as many weeds as possible, figuring out where plants might be growing (I saw some green bulb-type plants popping up in the garden), rototille, and put down black weed blocker to kill the weeds over the summer. If I have the time & energy I want to put in a long, thin raised bed along the back fence for sunflowers!
I have a few round planters were I hope to grow a few plants & finally have a garden.

Wow! Sounds like a lot of work! Can't wait to see it!
And on to the outside! You make it sound fun somehow. Probably because the before and after will be incredible!
