Transplanting Tulips

This afternoon I spent an hour outside working in my yard. Boards and weeds were tossed in the trailer to go to the dump. I moved a few rocks and bricks and attempted to transplant some tulips. I also have a bush that is currently unidentified that is by the remains of a post that needs to be dug up.

The tulips are volunteers that just popped up a few weeks ago. As of the moment, the above ground leaves are not very tall - maybe 4 inches. There were about 6 or 7 patches of tuplips and I put about 3 patches into pots. Since I am planning to rototille the garden area, the bulbs will need to be dug up anyway. I'm not sure if the tulips will make it anyway because it has snowed a few times since they started to come up and some of the leaves looked like they had been frozen. (poor plants!)

Once the garden area is rototilled, a long, narrow raised planting bed will be built along the back fence for sunflowers. I already bought several variety of seeds so it should look very pretty!

Can't wait to see the sunflowers! Will they be matching the house by the end of the summer? :)
