Wait. No one
really likes to be told to wait. But waiting permeates our lives: stoplights,
stop signs, doctors and dentist waiting rooms, computer to turn on or turn off,
Laundromat watching clothes spin around and around, lines for concerts, or
bathrooms, waiting for a friend, or a spouse, to get married, to meet that
someone special.
Waiting is a
simple word that holds many different shades of meaning from the mundane to the
profound. The dictionary defines it as “a
period during which one waits; a pause or delay.” There is no mention of the length of the
pause or delay. There is a possibility that that waiting will result in empty
hands.
I’m going to
start a series of blog posts for the purpose of pondering what it means for me,
a Christian single to wait for a spouse, in my case, a husband. There are so
many recommendations out there to get out there & meet people through
friends, online dating services, bars, churches, bible studies, and a myriad of
other avenues. Yet, the bible has much to stay about waiting and I want to
explore that disconnect further.
Please stay
tuned and feel free to give feedback!
