I love my brother, but he is not a very good housekeeper. Since he moved in a couple of months ago, I have discovered a few things about sharing housespace with guys.
Guy's generally:
(1) Have an aversion to cleaning up after themselves.
(2) Think it is okay to leave dirty dishes on the counter if they're leaving for three days.
(3) Have no idea how to clean a shower.
(4) Only think they know how to clean.
My house gets so much dirty/messy faster since he has been living with me. He is out of town for a couple of days and I just spent the afternoon taking care of laundry and cleaning the kitchen and bathroom. They both look lovely, but it won't stay that way for long.

Rita Rudner has a great line about, how, if left to their own devices, men will live like "bears with furniture."
It's pretty dead on.
There's also a hilarious Anna Quindlen (I think) essay about how, locked in a house at dinnertime with a knife, a tomato, a frozen box of Stouffer's mac-n-cheese, butter, and a loaf of French bread, a woman will eat in about an hour, and a man will go through a series of misadventures before collapsing in the recliner, gnawing on the loaf of French bread.
