Shopping Fast - Day 4

So mathnerd314 has some great ideas. I was going to comment on them, but thought I would post instead.

Good idea on the grocery suggestion. Part of what I am also doing is finding out what do I like to eat and how do I cook and not just buy canned corn or beans or brussel sprouts just because the house I grew up it shopped like that. I have started getting the paper again and have been cutting out coupons. A grocery store close by will accept comptitor coupons and I bought two boxes of tissue for $1 each. Toothpast was on sale and after the coupon it was 67 cents! I did need both items. And I got a 10 cent bag refund for bringing my own bags.

This is just for the month of May, when I am generally avoiding the stores anyway because I am trying to studying for "THE BIG EXAM" in June. Maybe I will stop at the garage sales I see on my way to and from the store to see if there is anything I need. I am kicking myself because I bought vitamins (on sale) and in the paper this morning there was a coupon for the very same brand for $3 off that would have made them 49 cents.

I guess you can't always win.
Here is an idea that will maybe help you with garage sales. Look on Craigslist and plan out a few to go to that have things you are looking for. I often will respond and ask about specific clothing sizes for the ones I need for the kids. That way I don't go to the sales that don't have the things I want.
I also like to save coupons and use them when an item at the grocery store goes on sale. Then it is double the savings. This works well for cold cereal.
God will honor a humble attitude toward spending and saving, I have seen it many times in my own life! (Both sides of it...)
