A week ago, I was getting ready for bed when I noticed my kitty was sitting up and breathing with her mouth open, gasping for breath. I was trying to decide whether that was because my house was too warm and we should go hang out in the basement or if we needed to visit the vet. We headed to the emergency vet where it was discovered that she had a spontaneous Pneumothorax, or air between the chest wall and the lungs that was preventing her from breathing. They aspirated the air and kept her in oxygen overnight. The next morning, I ferried her to the regular vet to hang out for the day and then picked her up after work. They left in the catheter in case she needed to go back to the vet, but Sasha preferred to chew on it so I covered it with a sock.
The following pic shows off her fur-cut. She looks like she is hoping to sprout little wings!
Tuesday night it was back to the vet for a check up. She was still breathing heavily, so they aspirated more air and home we came. Now, Thursday night, she is breathing easier and her spunky "cattitude" as returned.
