A wise friend said: "We are meant to share each other's burdens."
According the Webster's dictionary a burden is something that is carried or something that is emotionally difficult to bear.
Each of us has an unique burden that is ours to carry. We can choose to carry it alone or join with others and share our loads. For some it may be the burden of a family and small children that won't let you sleep through the night. For some it may be the burden of physical illness or emotional pain. For others it may be the burden of loneliness that comes creeping in the night.
I am encouraged by the following verse:
Psalms 68: 6.
"God places the lonely in families;
he sets the prisoners free and gives them joy.
But he makes the rebellious live in a sun-scorched land."
he sets the prisoners free and gives them joy.
But he makes the rebellious live in a sun-scorched land."
It gives me hope that God will see my loneliness and give me a family of my own. Yes, he placed me in a family as a child but he also placed in my heart the desire for a family - a husband and children - of my own. The last line of the verse is also a warning that should encourage us to live life in the grace of God and not running after our own desires or running away from our calling because of our fears.
It is important to remember that each stage of life has its difficulties and joys that can be embraced or avoided. And your particular stage will not last forever - the next stage will come soon and perhaps you may wish to return to the past.
I encourage each of us, including myself to live in the present and experience life as it comes.
