Are you a mess?

Two things from the sermon at church on Sunday that I am still contemplating:

1. Look for God in the messy things
2. Is God asking me to change something in my life?

 Currently the answer to the second is - I have no idea. I'll get back to you on this one. Wait, I'm already in the middle of a major life change. I don't recommend running from God. He will patiently wait until you're ready to follow Him.

The first thought is what I would like to consider further. It is really easy to look at the sorrows, disasters, and mundane things that we face in our lives and imagine that we have been abandoned by God. And even easier to pat ourselves on the back when life goes along perfectly without acknowledging God's part. The only problem with both of those beliefs is that they try to put Him in a box that is three sizes too small. One forgets that He has granted humans with the ability to choose bad over good and that tragedy does occur in life. The other forgets who gave us the good that our life contains.

So on those days when days that everything seems to go wrong, look deeper. Stand tall, breathe deep and slowly turn around with open eyes as you look for God in the surrounding mess.
