March Risks

I was really nervous about posting the first blog entry about my Year of Risks because sharing the risks required more vulnerability than I expected. Initially, it seemed like an easy plan. Take some risks and then share the experience. Yet, what I have discovered is that risks require exposure to failure. And I find failure very uncomfortable. Yet, I am not alone this because in reality, no human likes failure. The thing is: we all fail. It does not matter how successful we may appear to the world, in some way, each of us feels the sting that failure or the appearance of failure brings to our lives.

March has not brought many planned risks. Most of the month has been spent fending off a cold that morphed into bronchitis. Posting the first blog entry of the risk taking series was a huge risk this month. There are a few other risks in the works but I am not ready to share them with the world yet.

How will you include risk in your life this year?

The 2014 Risks
1) Saying No, instead of saying Yes
2)  Reconciling differences with a friend
3) Accepting that sometimes it is best to let go
4) Dinner on my own with a book
5) Posting my first blog entry
