Genuflection

Happy Easter! Happy Anniversary!

Two of the greetings I heard today and they are both correct for this is my 1 year anniversary of being a Catholic. One of the most difficult yet most joyous decisions in life thus far. As I reflect upon the past year I can see God's hand in my faith journey. Things that were difficult or confusing in the beginning are now clearer and easier. Yet, questions remain, which is completely acceptable as even Jesus's disciples did not completely understand all his teachings.

One of the (many) things I appreciate about the Catholic church is its intellectual depth. I had many questions and concerns about this journey. Yet as I conducted my due diligence, I found answers to my questions, answers that clearly pointed the way to Jesus Christ through the Catholic church. The sacraments of the Catholic church are not things that we do for God, but what God does for each of us. They are beautiful gifts from our loving Father in heaven. There is no other church on earth that has the Eucharist - the body and blood of Jesus Christ. My eyes were opened with the burden of my inadequacy combined with God's mercy and grace that He provides in an unbounded and generous measure.

There is so much joy in Catholicism. It is not a perfect church but Jesus Christ is there.

I know, for I find him there every time I attend mass.
