April Risks

This post is slightly overdue. I forgot that it was the end of the month and it was time to get this post written!

I started off April with a risk in my hobby life. I worked hard on a cowl and ran out of yarn before I was finished. Alas, the yarn is a specialty yarn that is no longer available. A friend gave some yarn that was the same kind of yarn but different color. After much internal debate (I had, after all, done a lot of work!), I decided to "frog" (aka rip out) the cowl and find a different project where the yarn I had would be sufficient. I settled on a beret style hat, which is what I planned for the yarn in the first place! And it turned out beautiful.

Earlier this year, I had a recruiter contact me about a position that seemed intriguing. It would require moving to a new town but would get me back into the banking field and further my career. The position required experience similar to what I had done in a previous job and it seemed like a good fit. I was thrilled to have an interview and realized that I really wanted the job despite the relocation requirement. The opportunity to start fresh seemed heaven sent. Yet, I did not receive a job offer. Disappointment mingled with relief. Bittersweet.  The risk: saying Yes to something new.

Anyone interested in joining me for a para-sailing risk-adventure?

The 2014 Risks
1) Saying No, instead of saying Yes
2) Reconciling differences with a friend
3) Accepting that sometimes it is best to let go
4) Dinner on my own with a book
5) Posting my first blog entry
6) Re-working a knitting project into something new
7) Saying Yes, and getting No
